Turbulence: Can the Center Hold? Opening Reception

The Ignition Space 44 Troy Street, Fall River, MA, United States

Join us Friday November 8th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 for an evening of community as we celebrate the opening reception of "Turbulence: Can the Center Hold?" a solo exhibition by Stacy Latt Savage Savage, a Professor of Art and Design in Sculpture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Savage’s sculptures are reflections of our turbulent times and a sense of global unrest. We live in a time when the delicate balance of life seems threatened by forces beyond our control. Her recent work in this exhibition is a response to the pandemic and our life post this global event. While each of Savage’s sculptures embody a visceral tension and spiraling momentum, Savage aims to find the sublime within fear and chaos. She forms and shapes raw material until her sculpture harnesses an energy that mirrors the unpredictability of life. Savage received her MFA from Cornell University and her BA from Wells College. She exhibits her work nationally and regionally in a variety of venues including museums, galleries, and public outdoor settings. Savage maintains a commitment to collaboration and her community which have led to numerous public commissions as well as curatorial and community-engaged projects. This project is supported in part […]

Friday, November 8, 2024 $51 Advance | $54 Day of Show Doors 7pm | Show 8pm Opener: Brooks Forsyth A relentless road warrior and masterful wordsmith, Ryan Montbleau has spent the better part of thirty years cultivating a devoted audience on the strength of his ecstatic live shows and exhilarating sonic versatility. He’s collaborated with artists as diverse as Trombone Shorty, Galactic, Steel Pulse, Tall Heights, Martin Sexton, Anders Osborne, and George Porter, Jr; shared bills with the likes of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Ani DiFranco, Todd Snider, The Wood Brothers, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Mavis Staples; and racked up more than 150 million streams on Spotify alone. NPR’s Mountain Stage compared his “eloquent, soulful songwriting” to Bill Withers and James Taylor, while Relix celebrated his “poetic Americana,” and The Boston Herald raved that “he’s made a career of confident, danceable positivity.” Montbleau’s freewheeling new album, We Did Alright, finds him exploring the full spectrum of his influences like never before, touching on folk, rock, funk, soul, hip-hop, and reggae, all with a preternatural ease that belies the intensely focused craftsmanship behind it. The songs are sprawling and unpredictable, grappling with a modern world perpetually teetering on the edge of chaos, […]
