Nefesh Mountain

Narrows Center for the Arts 16 Anawan St., Fall River, MA

Friday, April 25, 2025 $37 Advance | $39 Day of Show Doors 7pm | Show 8pm The latest album from Nefesh Mountain, Beacons emerged from a bold and wholehearted attempt to transform the world around them. Soon after wrapping up a whirlwind tour booked with the mission of spreading their newfound message of radical love, co-founders Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg immersed themselves in the feverish writing of songs that turned their frustrations and fears into irrepressible hope, all while reaching far beyond their bluegrass roots and forging a fiercely joyful sound unbound by genre convention. By the time they’d completed that process of musical alchemy, the New York-based husband-and-wife duo had profoundly refined the band’s vision and voice and arrived at the unfettered radiance of Beacons: an epic double album affirming Nefesh Mountain as a singular musical force—one whose deeply impassioned songwriting awakens us to new ways of navigating an endlessly troubled world. The New York based Progressive Americana group Nefesh Mountain Band has been hailed as one of the formative boundary-pushing ensembles in roots music. The band's creators and dynamic husband and wife team of Eric Lindberg and Doni Zasloff have created a world and sound all their own; blurring the lines between Americana, […]

“Navigating the Reach”: A National Poetry Month Reading and Workshop with Mass Book Award-Honoree Mary Buchinger

Somerset Public Library 1464 County St, Somerset, MA

Join the Somerset Public Library for a special Poetry Month event with Mary Buchinger! Mary will read from her acclaimed collection, Navigating the Reach, and help attendees find their inner poet with a short, generative writing workshop. In her fourth full-length collection, Mary Buchinger’s lyric and narrative poems take the reader on a journey across geographies, years, and states of mind. The “reach” in the title refers to a treacherous stretch of water between two bays on the Maine coast. With its tidal currents and rocky outcroppings, the reach holds visible and invisible complications. These elegiac poems limn the navigation of passageways—between what is and what was; memory and loss; self and other—and demonstrate how close attention, care, feeling, and intuition can move us forward, though the journey is never without risk. This program is sponsored by the Mass Book Awards Speakers Bureau and is presented in collaboration with the Massachusetts Center for the Book. Mary Buchinger grew up on a farm in Michigan, worked in Ecuador as a Peace Corps volunteer, and earned a doctorate in linguistics from Boston University. One of her poems is permanently installed in the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she lives and served as Poetry Ambassador, and her 2023 book, Navigating the Reach was selected […]
