Textiles of the 18th Century

Demonstration of steps, tools and equipment used to create fabric from raw fiber.
Display samples of animal and vegetable fibers used in textiles.
Discuss the political climate of late 18th century America and how it affected textile production
During the political unrest of 18th century America, the colonists returned to primitive methods of textile production as a means of protest. Explore the steps these determined people used to produce fabric from raw fiber.
Event supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Arts Council and the Fall River Cultural Council.
