18th Century Schooling and Education

Mr. Ryan Daniels is “The itinerant Schoolmaster.”
Welcome to the 1700’s! Colonial Classroom 1775 offers a select few students the rare opportunity to travel back in time to learn more about what life would have been like for a child in New England during our colonial past.
Program goals:
Educate Elementary school children about life in the 1700s
Give attention to historic homes and structures in our towns
Importance of preserving our nation’s past
What’s included:
Storytelling: A reading of a storybook about school life
Practicing writing with an Ink and Quill pen
Making of a hornbook
Reading from an actual 1770s educational primer
Short lecture/ show and tell with historical items
Recess with historical games
All proceeds go to support the Lafayette Durfee House and events like this.
This program is supported by the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency
