The Narrows Center for the Arts is a world-class performing arts space that has gained a beloved reputation by some of the country’s top touring artists. The Narrows also contains two art galleries, artist studios, and rental space for events, classes, and meetings, making it a hub for Fall River’s cultural community. Situated within Fall River’s waterfront cultural district, the Narrows offers the ability to see some of the nation’s best musical acts in an intimate setting.

Headquartered in a historic Victorian firehouse called “The Firebarn”, Little Theatre of Fall River has spent over 75 years performing for Fall River audiences. It was created in 1935 with the goal of bringing high quality theatre to the community at accessible prices. Every season, the company typically puts on 4-7 productions, ranging from dramatic one-act plays to epic mainstage musicals.

Founded by two internationally recognized artists with Fall River ties, the Fall River Museum of Contemporary Art is a first of its kind institution. Since opening in 2021, they have organized multiple exhibitions, the latest of which inaugurated their new permanent location on Troy Street in downtown Fall River. FR MoCA events have ranged from gallery openings to book talks, with more sure to come in their new location. Admission to the museum is always free.
Grimshaw Gudewicz Art Galley- https://bristolcc.edu/gallery/
The Grimshaw Gudewicz Art Gallery is a gallery space affiliated with Bristol Community College. The Gallery puts on multiple exhibits each year, all free and open to the public. Bristol Community College as a whole is a tremendous resource for those looking for events, either in the arts or education, with the College putting on events such as student showcases and public speaker series with academic experts.

Another long-standing member of the Fall River community, the Fall River Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1925. Since then, they have brought world class musical performances to residents and visitors. They’ve created several beloved traditions for residents, most notably through their iconic Holiday Pops performance. As they approach their 100th season, the continue to bring magical musical moments to our community year after year.

Founded in 1965, this organization has been a resource for artists and a source of enjoyment for patrons for well over half a century. The Greater Fall River Arts Association hosts workshops, gallery shows and other monthly events in a beautiful Victorian building in Fall River’s historic Highlands.

One of Fall River’s biggest assets is the number of attractions along the Taunton River. Amongst the many riverside amenities is the Heritage State Park Visitor Center. Here, the team from the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation host permanent and rotating history and art exhibits, in addition to a plentiful schedule of events (particularly over the busy summer months). The Visitor Center is equipped with an impressive theater for select showings, and occasionally puts on outdoor events to make use of their beautiful waterfront backyard.

One of Fall River’s most beloved community resources, the Fall River Public Library is worth a visit for views of the historic building it inhabits. The Library puts on several events monthly for a wide variety of audiences. Their renowned Children’s department puts on dozens of creative events each year– including their annual Teddy Bear picnic, Santa Claus storytimes and themed events with visits from beloved characters like Cinderella, Elmo, or Super Mario. For adults, they have hosted Shakespearean theater companies, author events, and a free waterfront concert every summer. Complemented by their regular schedule of book clubs and craft nights, there is sure to be something for everyone at the Fall River Public Library!

Fun for the whole family! In addition to their impressive facility and exhibits, the Children’s Museum of Greater Fall River frequently offers events for kids, ranging from craft nights to art classes to fun holiday events. The Creative Arts Network has been the driving force behind several projects to strengthen Fall River’s status as a cultural powerhouse and attractive destination for visitors. This work has included a repertoire of high quality events for those looking to engage with Fall River’s historic arts scene. Past events have included fashion shows that highlight Fall River’s rich textile industry (past and present!), as well as a Lizzie Borden murder-mystery party and holiday concerts.

The Lafayette Durfee House is a living time capsule nestled in a residential neighborhood not far from Fall River’s downtown. Named after the infamous Revolutionary war figure, General Marquis de Lafayette, who frequently visited the Fall River home of fellow namesake, Judge Thomas Durfee, the house hosts a number of exciting and unconventional events that are perfect for the history buff in your life. Events range from educational talks, to living history walkthroughs, to experiential workshops that teach you how to churn butter, make candles or weave fabric like they did in the 1700s. Where else can you grab tea with Martha Washington herself?
